I am happy to announce today that Colorado Earth (soon to be Nova Terra) was awarded a $250,000 grant from the Global Business Development division of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT). This grant does not come without conditions, however, as I am expected to match it with external funds in order to receive it. Nor is this a stand alone award, as 34 Colorado companies and eight researchers were awarded these Proof of Concept and Early-Stage Capital and Retention grants.
Regardless, this grant (provided I can secure it) represents a win for my brand and for my growth as an entrepreneur.
“Colorado is increasingly recognized as a national and global leader in the advanced industries, earning federal recognition for our work in areas like quantum and clean tech. The Advanced Industries Accelerator Program plays an important role in that success, supporting research institutions and startups as they discover and commercialize new, life-changing technologies while creating good-paying jobs for Coloradans,” said Michelle Hadwiger, OEDIT Global Business Development Director. “These grants also have a proven history of aiding recipients in attracting additional third-party investment critical to helping them grow.”
My job as a startup founder and CEO of late has largely involved pitching people for financing - executive fundraising. It is becoming something I truly enjoy - owning the stage and being able to stand up for my EcoBlox during some intense Q&A sessions is a challenge and has allowed me to get even closer to my own product. The video below was taken after a pitch to a room full of investors in Golden, Colorado. Perhaps it can answer some of the questions you might have about EcoBlox?
I would like to thank my mentors at NREL, West Gate and others for their support and encouragement, the feedback during my practice sessions and keeping me grounded.
Sincerley,
Lisa
